Day The University of Hong Kong http://www.acm.org.hk/activity/pg/index.html Programme Schedule (pdf format) Detailed Programme Schedule (pdf format) The second ACM Hong Kong Postgraduate Research Day will be held at the University of Hong Kong on October 23, 1999. The Research Day serves as a forum for postgraduate students in Hong Kong to present their recent research findings and to share their invaluable experiences learnt in doing their research. We cordially invite your participation in this important annual ACM Hong Kong event by submitting your work in all aspects of computing and communications: from underlying technologies at the physical level to novel techniques at the application level, from theory to practice, and architectural concepts to real systems. Authors of accepted full papers will be awarded certificates of merit from ACM HK. Best paper awards will be given to the three most outstanding papers. Papers submitted or published previously elsewhere can be submitted, as long as they were not published before June 1, 1999. |

| Technical Program: | |
The technical program, as in last year's PG Day, will
consist of keynote speeches from influential people from industry and/or government,
poster presentations, and parallel oral presentation sessions with topics of general
interest in the following categories:

| Format and Content of Submissions: | |
| Papers must be submitted in electronic form using
Postscript or PDF. For every submission, both an one-page abstract and an extended
abstract of at most 10 pages have to be submitted. Extended
abstracts should begin with a succinct statement of the problems and goals of the paper,
the main results, and the significance of the work in the context of previous research.
They should provide sufficient detail to allow the program committee to evaluate the
validity, quality, and relevance of the contribution. The entire extended abstract should
not exceed 10 double-spaced pages using a minimum of 10-point typeface. An optional
appendix may be included, but this will be used at the program committee's discretion. |
