***Workshop Program Announced!***

Registration Information

AOAsia 2006 is co-located with the 21st IEEE/ACM International Conference on Automated Software Engineering (ASE 2006) (http://www.ase-conference.jp/). If you wish to participate in the workshop, you need to register for the workshop and/or the main ASE conference. You can use ASE's online registration service (https://act.jtbgmt.com/gmt/ssl/ASE2006.ASP):

  • A "workshop only" registration will allow you to attend the workshop and provide you with all the relevant material (such as the workshop reader).

  • If you are registered for the main conference only, you can attend the workshop but will not receive any information material

  • Finally, "workshop with conference" allows you to join the workshop and also provides you with the associated material.

Authors of papers accepted for publication/presentation:

You are required to register for the workshop, i.e., you need to choose either the "workshop only" or the "workshop with conference" registration option.

Information for people interested in the workshop:

We welcome everyone interested in AOAsia to join the our workshop. If you plan to attend, please note that you are required to register for the workshop and/or the main conference (you can choose either of the three registration options mentioned above). In any case, please notify us (aoasia@cse.cuhk.edu.hk) if you intend to join the workshop so that we can plan ahead. Space should be plentiful, but is not unlimited.
  • About the Workshop

Separation of concerns is one of the main tenets of software engineering, allowing developers to reason about a problem in sensible portions, regardless which phase of the lifecycle they're working in. Many researchers in software engineering are actually in the field of Aspect-Orientation without realizing it. Automation plays an important role in current aspect-oriented software development (AOSD) research.

With the growing acceptance of AOSD as a software development technique, dedicated support for analysis of aspectual artifacts is needed at the various stages of software development. Developers need to be able to understand, visualize, specify, verify and test aspect-oriented requirements, architectures, designs and programs to make it an industrially viable technology. Tool support is further needed for the identification of latent (non-modularized) crosscutting concerns in legacy software and for their subsequent refactoring into aspects.

The aim of this workshop is to bring the discourse on AO research to Asia. We believe this can be accomplished by building ties to researchers from othe regions of the world, and also by helping to bring together Asian researchers who are tackling the problems of advanced separation of concerns, but who are not yet connected to this growing, thriving community. The tone of the workshop will be such that a newcomer to the field of AO will receive an introduction of what AO is, and how it fits in with their research.
